| The CA-8800 is used to split off the frequencies for the FM band. This is a great way to utilize your TV antenna to pull in long distance FM signals. Even when running a VHF antenna straight to an FM receiver you can get all sorts of audio distortion. With an insertion loss of -0.4 dB, this unit is far more efficient then using standard splitters, that have an average of -4 dB. The Winegard CA-8800 only passes the FM band to get clear crisp audio.
